He was predeceased by: his parents, Eino Ilmari Honkala and Helmi Marie Onramaki. He is survived by: his daughter Dee Anne Gillespie (Andy) of Alabama; his siblings, Nancy Honkala Williams of Georgia and Richard Honkala (Maria) of Vermont; his granddaughters, Emily and Katie (Deanne Kimler, family: Frank Kimler, Jay, Kelly Kimler, Kalyn, Justin Bard); and his great grandchildren, Deanne and John.
Memorial contributions can be made in John's name to The Walden Humane Society, National Audubon Society or Hudson Valley Honor Flight.
