He is survived by: his wife Sandra Thompson Thornton; his children, Karen Poteet (Tim) of Traverse City, MI and David Thornton (Ann) of Peachtree City, GA.; and his grandchildren, Sophia, Cole Poteet, Anna Wallace and Sara Frances Thornton.
