He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Holmes, Sr. and Mamie Lou Foxx Holmes; his sisters, Annie Marie Holmes and Nettie Mae Kinchen; and his brother-in-law Russell Kinchen.
He is survived by: his brothers, John Henry Holmes, Jr. and Earnest Holmes; and his close friend Charnele Wilson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
