With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John H. Smith Sr. of Newburgh, New York, who passed away on March 15, 2021 at the age of 87. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John H. Smith Sr. to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. Smith and Ada Smith (Cook); and his brother William H. Smith. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Smith (Cronk); his children, Debra Lynn Johnson (Ramond), Cathy Smith McCarty (Timothy) of Cornwall and John "Jack" H. Smith Jr. (Katherine) of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, John H. Smith III, Julia Smith, Victoria Johnson, Steven Johnson (Kristell), Austin McCarty (Christina) and Connor McCarty; and his great grandchildren, Keegan and McKenna McCarty.

Facial covering must be worn in the funeral home at all times, and social distancing must be practiced.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in John's memory to Union Presbyterian Church, 44 Balmville Rd., Newburgh, NY 12550 or to Mt. Saint Mary's College, 330 Powell Ave., Newburgh, NY 12550.
