He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Smith and Helen Smith (Beehm); his sister Nancy Hale; and his brother-in-law Steve Langow. He is survived by: his children, Jerry Smith (Jill) of Remsen, Julie Dawes (Steven) of Clayton, Doug Smith (Valerie) of Cold Brook and Elaine Allen (Wayne) of Stratford; his grandchildren, Alex Smith (Ilana Silverman), Brooke Flint (Ted), Brett Dawes (Sloan), Joshua Dawes (Kristen), Kyle Dawes (Courtney), Emily Smith, Parker Allen (Will) and Holly Kurganov (Alek); his great grandchildren, Xander, Adeline, Ivy, Turner, Miley, Jennings, Greysen, Sidney-Anne, Ryker, Eleanora, Iris and Emma; and his sisters, Barbara Schlaepfer (Rudy) of Bridgewater and Deborah Langow of Litchfield. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
