He was predeceased by : his parents, Dennis Maxwell and Doris Maxwell (Morey); his wife Mary; his daughter Susan Maxwell; his grandson Earl Trask; his siblings, Edward, William Maxwell and Catherine Sweet; and his son-in-law John LaFluer.

He is survived by : his children, Sandra LaFluer of Herkimer, Dennis Maxwell (Cathy) of Fairfield, Joyce Visconti (Edward) of Middleville, Patricia Traulsen (Carl) of Olympia, WA, James "Jimmer" Maxwell, Jr. (Kellie) of Fairfield and Bonnie Majka (Michael) of Yorkville; and his siblings, Robert Maxwell (Eva) of Utica, Margaret Nashton of Herkimer, Rosemary Perrino of Little Falls, Ruth Ruszala (Walter) of Utica, Veronica Clifford (Robert) of Newport and Ann Baker of Little Falls. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
