She was predeceased by: her parents, Leon Gareau and Justine Gareau (Dupuis); her husband James P. Garito; and her sister Lillian Richer (late Joe). She is survived by: her children, Jason Henry (Kiyomi), Douglas Garito (Sharon) and Cathi Garito; her daughter-in-law Jeanne Garito; her grandchildren, Tony Garito (Laura), Kasey Garito-Reighley (Todd), Michael Garito (Tiffany), Drew Garito, Margaret Garito-Hanna (Tom), Shota Henry and Anna Henry; her great grandchildren, Liam, Roan, Madelyn, Vincent, Lillian, Emelia, Charles and George; her sisters, Gertrude Hamilton (Rene), Pauline Gareau and Florence Lalonde (Michel); and her sisters-in-law, Denise Gareau (late Victor), Mary Shaw (late Ted) and Louise Murray. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Otto Redanz Funeral Home (2215 Military Rd, Niagara Falls, NY 14304). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Otto Redanz Funeral Home and Niagara County Cremation Care (2215 Military Rd, Niagara Falls, NY 14304).
In addition to that, she was a staunch supporter of Veterans and an avid baker, known for her cookies and pies, Anita was always ready to supply a treat or donate them to a good cause.
