He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Thurman and Marie [Nowe] Thurman; his wife Theresa R. Thurman (McNulty); his granddaughter Michelle Thurman; and his brother John Thurman.

He is survived by: his children, Paul (Colleen), David (Kate), Jack (Cathy Ruggiero), Randy (Anita), Robert (Cheryl), Patrick (Briana), Karen Thurman, MaryAnne Francemone (Stephen Hart) and Lynne Kanfoush (Daniel). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
