With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lena Pearl Thornton in Niagara Falls, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 18, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Fails and Mary Fails (Williams); her husband Will Thornton; her children, Doretta Scott, Curtis Thornton, Mitchell Thornton and Willie Thornton; and her siblings, Dennis "Buddy" Fails, Albert Lewis Fails, Willie Frank Fails, J. W. Fails, Robert Fails, Eddie Lee Fails, John Fails, Winfred Fails, Elisabeth "Belle" Smith, Zettie Bedgood, Janie Mae Shaw and Alberta Johnson.

She is survived by: her children, Alvin Thornton (Elizabeth), Marlon Thornton, Lorraine Thornton (Bishop Kevin Betton) and Betton; and her grandchildren, Felicia Gulley, Angela Maye (John), LaBetton Thornton, Kevin Betton, Jr. (Celeste) and Jermaine Betton. She is also survived by 15 great‑grandchildren; 10 great‑great‑grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great‑nieces, great‑nephews, great‑great‑nieces, great‑great‑nephews, and cousins.
