“Dear Carter family, I’m so sad to hear about Uncle Tom’s passing. Heaven sure has gained a good one! I will forever be grateful to him for his warmth and sense of humor and service to our country. I have thought about him over the years any time I heard the song, “Good night, Irene”. He sang that to me more than once and I’ll never forget it. Peace to you all. Noreen (Cichosz) Young”
