Joan Riley Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Riley (North Syracuse, New York), born in Syracuse, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 2, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband James; her son Patrick; her parents, Patrick Walker and Mary Walker; and her siblings, Jack Walker (Maureen), Jimmy Walker (Joanne) and Mary "Tish" Gehres (Dave).
She is survived by: her children, Dennis (Kim), Mary Beth and Cathleen Smith (Mark); her grandchildren, Meg Riley, Emily and Ethan Smith; and her sister Nancy Casler (Bill). She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home (209 N Main St, North Syracuse, NY 13212). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Rose of Lima Church (407 S Main St, North Syracuse, NY 13212).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital Syracuse or your favorite Pet Charity in Joan's memory.
