He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Karkau and Betty Karkau (Turner); and his brother-in-law George Wasieczko (Debbie). He is survived by: his wife Theresa Karkau; his children, Sandra Karkau-Coffta and Andrew Karkau (Kristen); his grandchildren, Charlotte, Evelyn, Olivia Coffta, Norah and Marie Karkau; his sister Jill Karkau; and his siblings-in-law, Paul Wasieczko (Paula) and Ann Heuer (Steve). He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or the charity of one's choice.
