He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Creasy and George C. Cleaver; his wife Dorothy Cleaver; and his siblings, Miriam M. Fisher of Lewisburg, PA, George D. Cleaver of Montrose, CO and Preston A. Cleaver of Almedia, PA.

He is survived by: his son Lt. Colonel Chris Cleaver of Lebanon, PA; his grandchildren, Christopher Cleaver II of Lebanon, PA, Ashley and Andrew Arasaki of Portland, OR; his daughter Heather; his son-in-law Edward Shivokevich of Northport, NY.; and his siblings, Helen Rebecca "Becky" Cleaver, William J. Cleaver, Colleen M. Kindig, Forks and Benton.
