He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Burton and Earla Burton (Jensen); his parents-in-law, Duane and Rose Lorimer; his stepmother-in-law Barbara Lorimer; his brothers, Thomas Burton, George Burton and Harold Burton; and his brothers-in-law, Charlie Neadom, George Lorimer, Joseph Lorimer and Steve Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Lorimer of Norwich; his sons, Richard Burton (Sara) of Norwich, Robert Burton of Greensboro, NC and Brian Burton (Kecia) of Norwich; his grandchildren, Alexa Burton of Norwich, Jensyn Penta (Jessie) of Norwich, Kylie Cox of Conklin, Riley Burton of Greensboro, NC, Taylor Finch of Norwich, Robert Burton of Greensboro, NC and Bianca Burton of Norwich; his great grandchildren, Anderson, Charlotte, Laine and Elodie; his siblings, Rosie Simpson of Florida, Laurie Crandall (John Murray) of Norwich and John Vinal of Norwich; his sisters-in-law, Mary Neadom of Norwich, Lianne Sprague (Denny) of Guilford, Michelle Lorimer of Norwich and Vicki Burton of Norwich; his stepmother Shirley Burton of Norwich; his stepsister Bonnie Burton of Oregon; and his brother-in-law Richard Lorimer (Ginny) of Norwich. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
