He was predeceased by: his parents, John Burkwit and Delia Novak Burkwit; his wife Lorna Shaw Burkwit; and his siblings, Alice Baker (Eddie) and Bernard Burke (Eileen).
He is survived by: his brothers, John Burkwit and Robert Burkwit (Mary); his children, Sue Burkwit, Daniel James, Barbara Azzano (Steven), Kevin Burkwit (Jennine) and Kyle Burkwit; his stepchildren, Robert Baker and Beth Baker; and his grandsons, Sean and Johnathon. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. (2670 Main St, Newfane, NY 14108). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Charles Borromeo Church (5972 Main, Olcott, NY 14126).
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Clancy's honor to the Newfane Lions Club.
