He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Chapin and Arlene Turner Chapin; his brother Albert; his sister-in-law Ellen Chapin; his sibling's child Alanna; and his brother-in-law Gene Geyer.
He is survived by: his wife Debra Turybury Caldwell; his daughter Dama McElderry of Smyrna, GA; his grandchildren, Annah and Judah; his stepsons, Christopher Caldwell of Olean and Chad Caldwell (Kristin) of Portville; his stepgrandson Chase; and his sisters, Carolyn Crawford of Allegany and Beverly Geyer of Allegany. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany American Legion, the Olean American Legion, or to the Olean VFW.
