He was predeceased by: his parents, John N. Carpenter and Vivian Bailey Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Terry; his children, Daniel Carpenter (Meredith) of Dallas, TX., Denise Carpenter (Frank) of Olean, Donald Carpenter (Lisa) of Olean and Kristin Hovey (Joe) of Olean; his grandchildren, Justin, Trevor, Kyle, Collin, Gabby, Taylor, Meghan, Jake, Ryan, Owen, Kayla and Joey; and his brother William Carpenter. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo (formerly known as Oishei), at 818 Ellicott St, Buffalo, NY 14203.
