He was predeceased by: his parents, John M. Pontius, Sr. and Elizabeth Y. Pontius. He is survived by: his wife Andrea Pontius; his children, Ashley Aitken-Davies (George), Kathleen Stansberry and Sarah Pontius; his grandchildren, Charlotte, Georgina and Teddy Aitken-Davies; his sons, Paul, Jonathan, Andrew Stansberry, Spencer and John "Jack" Pontius (Angela); his stepmother June Pontius; and his siblings, Peter Pontius and Nancy Pontius.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. James Church (305 Main St, Oneonta, NY 13820). A Mass will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St James Episcopal Church (305 Main St, Oneonta, NY 13820).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helios Care, The Oneonta Historical Society, Huntington Memorial Library, or any organization that advances access to education, civic service, or the common good.
