We announce the death of John William Havens (Oneonta, New York), who passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 96. John William will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Mabel Havens and Charles Havens. He is survived by: his cousin Ginny; his sister Janet; his wife Norma Lee; his children, Michael Havens (Susan) of Prescott Valley, AZ, Steven Havens (Bonnie) of Oneonta, NY and Laura O'Brien (Philip Landry) of Troy, NY; his grandchildren, Jennifer Kegelman (Chris) of Cooperstown, NY, Daniel O'Brien, Katie Van Dyke (John) of Phoenix, AZ, Stephanie Osborne (Dustin) of Bainbridge, NY, Kimberly O'Brien of Schenectady, NY and Samuel Havens (Andreas Hertl) of Munich Germany; and his sister-in-law Mary Collins of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.

They enjoyed their Oneonta life and worked hard to make a positive contribution to the community to show their gratitude for all Oneonta has provided them.
