He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Judd and Asa F. Barnes. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Barnes; his former wife Iva Barnes; his stepchildren, Robert Irving (Amy), Thomas Irving (Jonie) and Patty Hall (John); his sons, Gary Barnes and Jeffrey Barnes; and his brother Richard Barnes.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The St. Paul's Campus of Grace Church Ossining in his memory.
