He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Mahaney and Gertrude Ouderkirk Mahaney; his daughter Tracie L. Flett; and his sisters, Catherine Pritchard, Barbara Gureney, Rose Mary Johnson, Mary Jane Ruttan, Joan Flack and Marie Gray.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Cleary Mahaney; his children, Pamela Cahill (Ron) of Oswego, David P. Mahaney, Jr. (Rhonda) of Oswego and Lawrence D. (Shanna) of Katy, TX; his siblings, Sallie Roberts of Granby, Lawrence Mahaney of Oswego, Robert Mahaney (Carol) of Syracuse and John Mahaney (Marie) of Las Vegas, NV; and his grandchildren, Joshua Flett (Megan), Ronald Cahill (Stepfanie), Jeremy Cahill, Christopher Cahill, Sarah Mahaney, Karsyn Mahaney, Dylan Mahaney, Ashley Mahaney and Liam Mahaney. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
