He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gibson and Lenora Gibson (Thurston); and his son Michael W. Gibson Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Connie Gibson of Oswego; his son Joseph Gibson (Ellen) of Oswego; his stepchildren, Renee Smith (Dan) of Vernon Center and Michael Baum (Jennifer) of Hastings; his grandchildren, Mia Gibson, Liam Gibson and Karley Smith; and his siblings, Tim Gibson (Margaret) of Minetto, Nora Malone of Oswego, Donna Adams (Bob), John Gibson Jr. of Oswego, Tammy Hulburt (Gene) of Smithboro and George Gibson of Oswego.
