It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Van A. Johnson (Ovid, New York), who passed away on January 23, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Johnson and Carrie Johnson; and his nephew Chris Kreutter. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou; his daughters, Michele Mello (Jay Goedhart) of Coarsegold, CA, Frances Schulte (John) of Fresno, CA and Jennifer Legarretta (Angel) of Auburn, NY; his grandchildren, Jerry (JD), Todd Mello, Ryan, Karie Schulte, Anthony Gonzales, Zac and Drew Legarretta; his great grandchildren, Dylan Mello and Olivia Gonzales; his sister Rita Kreutter of Longs, SC; and his niece Lori Whalen.
