He was predeceased by : his half-brothers, Edgar, Donald and Gordon Schaffner; and his parents, Charles Schaffner and Lena Schaffner.

He is survived by : his wife Marianne; his sons, Donald Schaffner (Kristin) and David Schaffner (Brigitt); and his grandchildren, Nathanial Schaffner (Danielle), Zachary Schaffner (Ashley) and Emily Schaffner.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Bill's memory be made to the SPCA of Tompkins Co., 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY 14850.
