He was predeceased by: his brother-in-law Don Chandler; his parents, Gerald Root and Myrtle Root (Kellogg); and his great-grandparent E. E. Root (Gary). He is survived by: his wife Donna Root; his children, Cindi Root, Mark (Chris Root) and Jeff (Sandy Root); his stepdaughter Wendy (Mark Hoover); his grandchildren, Alaney Kohler, Abby, Drew Heater, Jen, Karl, Amanda, Greg Corson, Daniel, Nikki Root, Joe, Katrina Root, Meghan Nevius, Allie, Jordan Updyke, David Ulrich, Kate Ferguson, Maddie Hoover, Jacob Elsbree, Brendan Hoover, Andie Hoover, Kyle Guiles, Andrew and Tiera Guiles; and his sisters, Sandy Chandler and Ruth (Tom Morse). He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
