He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gilli and Martha Gilli (Nicholson); and his siblings, James Gilli and Joann Griffin. He is survived by: his wife Elaine Popkin; his sons, John Gilli, III of Hyde Park, James Gilli (Michelle Curry) of Hopewell Junction, Joseph Gilli (Jennifer) of Catskill and Jeremy Gilli (Jessica Baade) of Kingston; his granddaughters, Lee Ann, Savannah, Adelyn, Elora and Jayden; his great grandchild Brynleigh; his sisters, Sandra Katalina (Michael) and Donna Hedges (Scott); his aunt Betty Jones (James); his brother-in-law William Griffin; and his close friend Walter Hollings. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. (895 NY-82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Denis Church (602 Beekman Rd, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533). A burial was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at the St. Denis Cemetery (604 Beekman Rd, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533).
Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
