He was predeceased by: his wife Ann L. Wells; his parents, Esther Wells and Elmer Wells; his stepmother Hazel Wells; and his siblings, Carl Wells (Ida), Wesley Wells, Ed Wells (Sally), Marsha Cook, Timothy Tromble and Charles Tromble.
He is survived by: his children, James Wells, Leanne Menaguale (Jerry), Richard (Donna Jeanne) and Matthew Wells (Jennifer); and his grandchildren, Jason Menaguale (Aubrey), Lauren Menaguale (Roy Rodriguez), Kyle Wells (Kristen Bull), Morgan Wells, Ashley Wells, Jameson Wells and Tyler Wood (Linnea Kelly). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
