He was predeceased by: his parents, Milford Smith and Mary Kochert (Roe); and his brother Neil Smith. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Armstrong; his children, David W. Smith II of Penn Yan and Allison Ballard (Ben) of Dundee; his stepson Brian Updike (Heidi) of Corfu, NY; his siblings, Steven Smith (Nancy) of Sherburne, NY and Ann E. Smith of Branchport; his grandchildren, Kaelee, Jaxyn, Vincent, Jaxon, Brynleigh, Cason, Alyssa and Eric; and his great grandchildren, Eric Jr. and Liam.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weldon Funeral Home (102 E Main St, Penn Yan, NY 14527). A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Branchport United Methodist Church (3376 Guyanoga Rd, Branchport, NY 14418).
