He was predeceased by: his parents, William L. Shorter and Margaret F. Shorter (McGrail). He is survived by: his wife Evelyn A. MacDowell; his son Timothy; his siblings, John and Mary; and his children, Laurie Hodges (Phil), Kristine Gorman, William Shorter, Jr., Matthew Shorter (Shelly), Carolyn Tilden and Joel Shorter (Penni-Lyn). He is also survived by his ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
