He was predeceased by: his parents, Lena Backus and Newton Backus; and his siblings, Lester, Donald, Claude, Carl, Irene Csete and Bernice Barnes.

He is survived by: his wife Neva Backus; his daughters, Mary Rapp (Mike) and Lena Backus; and his grandson Ryan. He is also survived by Many Nieces, Nephews.
