She was predeceased by: her parents, Heman Lloyd Stoughton and Ethel Isabel Smith; her husbands, Reginald Karl Downs and James Varno; and her sister Martha Rae Santor.

She is survived by: her children, Kevin Downs (Karen Starkey-Nunez) of Colorado, Scott Downs (Karen) of Vermont and Lisa Reisdorf (Jeffrey) of Florida; her grandchildren, Kerry Parish (Kevin) of South Carolina, Erin Johnson (Paul Linden) of Vermont, Joshua Downs of Vermont and Corey Downs (Jill) of Florida; her niece Julie Burdo (Gordon) of Plattsburgh; and her nephew Ronald Santor (Gail) of Plattsburgh. She is also survived by great-niece and two great-nephews and six great grandchildren.
