With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Paul John Benway in Plattsburgh, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 15, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wyman Benway and Nina Benway (Hathaway); his wife Barbara Cave; his children-in-law, Kimberley Benway and Richard LaPorte; his great grandchild Noah Boettcher; his siblings, Helen (Jim Flynn), Hilda (Vaughn Hathaway) and Lional Benway (Emmy); and his siblings-in-law, Bernard Teriele, Marshall Rasco, Helena Benway and Maura Benway.
He is survived by: his children, Christopher, Christina (Tim Oshier), Christal (Don Yando), Carol LaPorte, Paul (Carol Greenley) and Timothy (Cathy); and his siblings, Hazel Teriele, Harriet Rasco, Norris (Judy), Robert and Alan (Marla). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and 1 future great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to the Upper Jay Fire Department, Jay Fire Department, Wilmington Ambulance, and the AuSable Ambulance.
