He was predeceased by : his parents, James Wachtel and Mary Vandekerckhove Wachtel; his spouse Shirley Booth Wachtel; and his siblings, James J., Martha A. Wachtel and Mary Ellen Carabis.

He is survived by : his children, Peter F. Wachtel (Patricia) of Poestenkill, Charles J. Wachtel (Jami) of Poestenkill, Deborah M. Gilday (John) of Nashua, NH and Dawn A. Wachtel of Poestenkill; and his pet Kitty. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
