He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph A. Hamel and Elsie Hamel of Canada; his wife Marjorie "Midge" Hamel; his son Eric Hamel; and his son-in-law Captain Billy Petrosino.
He is survived by : his children, Wendy Hamel of Port Byron, Terry Petrosino of Auburn, Sheila Smith (Earl Sr.) of Port Byron and Michael Hamel (Lori) of Cayuga; his grandchildren, Jeff, Joe, Jack Morehouse, Kaylee, Marissa Petrosino, Earl Smith Jr. (Ashley), Stacy Kreydatus (Mike), Crystal Seabury (Nick), Jeremy Dunn (Gina), Gregg Hamel (Ashley), Mitchell Hamel, Jennifer Mejorado (Joshua) and Michael Hamel; his brother Denny Hamel (Mona) of Stittsville; and his sister-in-law Mavis O'Neil of Ottawa Canada. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
