Margaret Rose Smart Obituary
We announce the death of Margaret Rose Smart of Port Byron, New York, who passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 88. Margaret will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Ball and Leitha Ball (VanAntwerp); her significant other Sylvio Smart; her son Craig Smart; her grandson Brian Smart; and her siblings, James Ball (Delia), George Ball (Gail), Guy Ball (Marie Bundy), Jeanette LaDuke and Martha Carocci (Ted).
She is survived by: her children, Deanna Zimmer of Syracuse, Valerie Smart of California and Darryl Smart of Oregon; her daughter-in-law Toni Smart of Montezuma; her grandchildren, Robert Zimmer (Kristi), Anthony Zimmer, Ashley O'Hara (Jarrett), Frank Smart (Sarah), Megan Smart, Alan Smart (Kim), Dean and Daniel Celentano (Kasi); and her great grandchildren, Devyn, Kaylie Zimmer, Micaiah Heffner, Cameron and Kailyn Smart. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 8:00 AM at the St Joseph Church (2667 Hamilton St, Weedsport, NY 13166). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Margaret Smart to Port Byron Fire Department.
