He was predeceased by : his parents, Maynard and Lillian Hammond (Lybolt); his wife Johnnie Mae Rhodes of Fayetteville; and his siblings, Alma Brereton, Robert, Maynard Jr., Fred and George.

He is survived by : his daughter Debra Raye Thompson; and his granddaughter Meagan Bridget Thompson of New York City.
