He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Claflin and Phila Prashaw Claflin; his wife Connie Fuller Claflin of Mary's Church; and his sister Freda Sanpier. He is survived by: his children, Ray Claflin, Jr. of Potsdam, NY and Deborah Lagoe (Timothy) of Schuylerville, NY; and his grandchildren, Amanda Lagoe, Meaghan Bellard (Lagoe) and Chelsey Cook (Claflin). He is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
