He is survived by: his wife Jean Gilmore; his children, Marie Phillips (Michael), Jillian Troue (Howie), Carrie Mason (Peter) and Gene Van Tassell; his siblings, James Van Tassell, Linda Little (Colin) and Gina Orton; his grandson Michael Phillips Jr.; his sisters, Ryan Phillips, Bentley Troue, Abigail Phillips, Thomas Mason and Caitlin Mason; and his sisters-in-law, Joyce Gilmore of Hyde Park and Sally Woods of North Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and an abundance of close friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. (39 S Hamilton St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601).
