It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Katherine Rugar (Poughkeepsie, New York), born in Highland, New York, who passed away on October 13, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John A. Valentino and Jenny Hewitt; her husband John C. Rugar; and her brothers, Pat and Bob Valentino.
She is survived by: her children, Jane Stanquist (Gerald) of Pleasant Valley, Tina Dennis (Alan Winterhalter) of Ohio, Nancy Smith (Richard) of Pleasant Valley and Dennis Rugar (Stephanie) of Pleasant Valley; and her siblings, Rose Ellison of Highland, Joseph Valentino of Highland, John Valentino of Highland and Mary Jane Dougherty of Highland. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the St. Jude's Foundation or Disabled American Veterans.
