We announce the death of David E. Utter of Prattsburgh, New York, born in Bath, New York, who passed away on September 10, 2026. David will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, E. Swartz Utter and Ruth E. Utter (Baker) of Hammondsport; and his siblings, Roger W. Utter (Barbara), Terry Turner (Myron Turner) and Cheryl.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara J Utter (Roe Hawkins); his children, Michael J Hawkins (Prattsburgh) and Rebecca Riekofski (Steven); his granddaughter Cassidy L Papia (Captain James V.); and his siblings, Donna U. Wright (Wright), Gary R. Utter (Sharon), Dale S. Utter (late Janice), Charleen Carlson (late Tom Carlson), Cynthia Comfort and Kim Potter (John Potter). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home (35 Main St, Hammondsport, NY 14840). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
