It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard John Brainerd of Prattsville, New York, who passed away on May 1, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Brainerd and Edna Brainerd; his siblings, Marge Husted (Fred), Don and Chuck Brainerd; his parents-in-law, Ruth and Stub Rikard; and his siblings-in-law, Donna Brainerd, Lila Rikard, Ed Schaefer and Jim Brenn.

He is survived by: his wife Valerie; his children, Rick (Celina), Stephanie and Michelle (Keith); his grandchildren, Cailyn, Nick (Joelle) and Hunter Brynn; his great grandchildren, JJ and CiCi; his sister Marie Schaefer; his sisters-in-law, Reba Brainerd, Ellen Brenn and Jean Monnen; his brothers, Dave and Dan Rikard; his uncle Kip Rikard; his pet Shadow; Patty Gunther (Hugh). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
