He was predeceased by: his parents, Phyllis Whitman and Joseph Whitman. He is survived by: his wife Vivian Whitman; his daughters, Gail Simmonds (Bobby Simmonds), Deborah Whitman Goldhorn and Cyndy Hess (Bill Hess); his grandchildren, Ciara Clauss, Alexandra Whitman Goldhorn (Jake Ross), Robert Simmonds, William Hess and Joseph Hess; his great grandchild Ava Goldhorn Ross; and his siblings, Phyllis Mikelic and John Whitman.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home (35 Morrissey Dr, Putnam Valley, NY 10579). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:15 AM at the Hillside Cemetery (1033 Oregon Rd, Cortlandt, NY 10570).
