He was predeceased by: his siblings, Joseph Whelan and Gabrielle Karas (George); and his nephew George Nicholas. He is survived by: his wife Anita; his siblings, Cecily Peeples (Byron) and William Whelan (Kathleen); his sister-in-law Margaret Whelan; and his nieces and nephews, Stephanie Karas, Alexandra Karas, Melanie Ramos (Otoniel), Diana Karas, Genevieve Banks (Steven), Natalie Whelan (Rishi Rattan), Joseph Whelan (Sylvie), Robert Whelan (Preeta Samarasan) and Timothy Peeples (Lauren). He is also survived by his family and friends.
