Sharon Gail Murrell Obituary
Sharon Gail Murrell, 63, loving mother of Esron and Malika Murrell, grandmother to Saint Amiri and Justin Murrell, passed away on December 4, 2021 at 8:20 p.m. Sharon was born on November 26, 1958 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Sharon grew up in a large family with six other siblings, Kenman, Mato, Kern, Donna, Astrid and Andre. She came from meager beginnings. She attended Junior high and graduated at the top of her class in every subject for three years. Prayer was her strength as she progressed through her studies, going on to master A level exam and working for a government agency in Trinidad and Tobago. Sharon was a reverent servant of God, faithfully believing in all his works and did nothing without prayer first. She was a spiritual person who knew that with God all things are possible. She spread the word of God to everyone she encountered. Sharon was influenced by her family and never hesitated to give her time, love or anything that she had to others. Sharon often fed the homeless at the local shelters out of the trunk of her car and ministered to those struggling in life. In 1990 Sharon came to America and attended college at Pace University with a student visa. She went on to attain a bachelors in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Religious studies, she also obtained a Masters in Special Education and PH.D where she found her niche. Sharon was a dedicated teacher and public servant who worked hard to strengthen the goals and aspirations of students who were struggling. She encouraged every student and believed that they could succeed.
As a grandmother she enjoyed spending time with her two grandsons and spent hours laughing at all the new teenager "lingo" and toddler developments. In her free time Sharon loved to travel going to places like London, Barbados, Italy and Jamaica. She believed it was very important to stay active and was always on the go with her loving and faithful companion Bearsome aka "Steve" who also perished with her.
She will be greatly missed by her family, especially her children, Malika and Esron: her grandchildren, Justin and Saint Amiri; and siblings Astrid, Mato, Kern, Kenman and Andre; and all of her nieces and nephews.
We are confident, yes well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8
We understand that people are with us for a time and we are grateful for the love and light that you gave us. You are in your heavenly home.
Rest easy. We Love You!!
Sharon is survived by her two children; two grandchildren; father; four brothers; one sister; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.
A service will be held, for those who would like to attend, at 10 a.m. on December 28 at The Greater Allen AME 110-31 Merrick Blvd, Queens, NY 11433 .
