He is survived by : his children, Ann and David; his sons-in-law, José and Kenny; and his grandson Matthew (Allie).
In 2007 he was honored by the Vascular Access Society of the United States, which lauded him for contributions to medical science which "have immeasurably benefited countless patients undergoing end-stage renal disease.".
