He was predeceased by: his parents, Will Cooper and Mary Cooper (Bennett); his wife Elnora (Bruno); and his siblings, Dotson, Robert, Redmond, James, Clinton, Sherman Lee Cooper, Mabel Smith, Rose Cooper Cherry and Willie Mae Hatcher.

He is survived by: his children, Adria Joy Hayward (Charles) of Rochester, Calvin Cooper Jr. (LaTorya) of Rochester, Sandra Cooper of Rochester and Gwendolyn Cooper of Rochester; his brother Marc Cooper (Marva); and his sister-in-law Thelma Cooper of Rochester. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Woodlawn Cemetery (800 Grant Blvd, Syracuse, NY 13203). A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Church (534 Oxford St, Rochester, NY 14607).
