He was predeceased by: his wife Eleanor; his brother Harvey; and his parents, Joseph and Yetta. He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer Howitt Anolik (Adam) and Deborah Howitt Easton (Todd); his grandchildren, Eleanor, Sarah Anolik, Simon, Helena and Emmett Easton; his sister Carole Heyl; his sister-in-law Sydell Howitt; and his friend Joel Silverman (Diana Dunbar). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Harvey F Howitt MD Memorial Scholarship fund at the University of Missouri Medical School.
