He was predeceased by: his parents, John Makely and Phoebe Makely; his sister Patricia Scranton; and his nephews, Michael and Kevin.
He is survived by: his daughters, Dawn VanVorst (Bryon) and Kara Makely; and his grandsons, Joseph Makely and Austin VanVorst. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
