He was predeceased by: his father Patrick J. Burns; and his grandmothers, Florence May Drankhan and Virgina Burns. He is survived by: his mother Linda E. Burns; his sister Julie Burns-Sluk; his brother-in-law Bill Sluk; his nephew Gregory; and his niece Victoria. He is also survived by many other family members and dear friends.
