She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry F. Slater and Elizabeth R. Slater; her sister Sharon Slater Moore; her nephew Lance Gearing; and her pet Abby.

She is survived by: her daughter Monica Slater; her sisters, Joy Gearing (Donald) and Martha Fischer (Terence); and her siblings' children, Deanne Patterson, Kimberly Gearing, Stacey Vaccaro and Michael Moore.

In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the Special Olympics in honor of her much beloved nephew Lance Gearing.
